About This Tour
It is said that if there should be wonderlands on the earth, Jiuzhaigou National Park must be one of them. There is no equal elsewhere that has sceneries and fables of dreamlike eloquence, or natural purities like a fairyland as it.
Jiuzhaigou National Park, aka Jiuzhai Valley National Park or Jiuzhaigou Valley, is located in Jiuzhaigou County, 450 kilometers (280 miles) to the north of Chengdu. Its name is due to the existence of nine stockaded villages of Tibetan origin, and it is always regarded as a holy mountain and watercourse by the Tibetan people.
Jiuzhaigou National Park is a great masterpiece of nature having dreamlike scenery, which combines blue lakes, waterfalls, verdant forests, snow-covered mountains, and the folk customs of the Tibetan and Qiang peoples. Legend has it that long long ago the deity of mountain named Dago had a crush on the goddess Semo, and he gave a mirror that was made from wind and cloud to the goddess. However, the devil appeared and made trouble to Semo. Inadvertently, Semo broke the mirror into 108 pieces, which fell down to the earth and then turned to 108 colorful lakes. The lake is also called Haizi by local people.
In many ways, Jiuzhaigou Valley is similar to Yosemite National Park in California. Both are formed with valleys surrounded by mountains. Evergreen forests are predominant. Above the tree lines are rocky peaks that are covered with snow in the winter. While, Jiuzhaigou has more creeks, lakes and waterfalls than Yosemite.
The plenty supply of ground water makes Jiuzhai Valley always green and its lakes and waterfalls filled year round. Besides, tour Jiuzhaigou, you’ll have a chance to visit Huanglong National Park which is near to Jiuzhaigou Valley. Day 1: Chengdu – Huanglong National Park – Jiuzhaigou
Place & Transport: Chengdu → Huanglong → Jiuzhaigou
Today’s Activities: High-speed train to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, Huanglong National Park visit
Accommodation: Jiuzhaigou (4/5 star hotel)
Meal: Not included (lunch/dinner at own cost)
Today, we will depart from Chengdu East train station and then take the high-speed railway to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station. After reaching Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, we will take a 30mins drive from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong Scenic Area. Huanglong Valley has one of three most outstanding travertine lake terraces in the world. Colorful pools, snowcapped mountains, verdant forests, and a peaceful valley are Huanglong’s four highlights.
To save your energy and time, we will arrange a cable car to the valley top, and then walk down the valley to enjoy the fantastic scenery all around you. After about 3–4 hours sightseeing in the valley, we will leave the park and transfer 2 hours to the mouth of Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area. This is where we will find our accommodation. The remainder of the day is free for you to have a good rest to get prepare for your Jiuzhaigou Huanglong tour.
High Altitude Tips: since the attractions of Huanglong National Park are located more than 3,000 meters above the sea level, travelers should prepare well for the high altitude sickness. Keep a good healthy condition before your tour and rest well especially the first night of arrival. When walking in the valley, don’t go too rush. If you feel hard to breathe, you can stop in the tourist service center to rest and get oxygen supply.
