- Drive to Thimphu โ 1.5hr scenic drive following the Paro and Thimphu rivers, through terraced rice paddies and pine forests
- Thimphu Evening Walk โ Explore Bhutan’s charming capital (population ~120,000), the only capital in the world without traffic lights. Stroll through the clock tower square and local craft bazaar
Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu โ Bhutan’s Capital Discovery
- Buddha Dordenma โ The massive 51.5m-tall golden Buddha statue seated atop Kuensel Phodrang hill, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. Inside are 125,000 smaller Buddha statues. Enjoy panoramic views of the entire Thimphu Valley
- National Memorial Chorten โ Built in 1974 in memory of the Third King. Join elderly Bhutanese circumambulating the whitewashed stupa, spinning prayer wheels โ the spiritual heart of daily Bhutanese life
- Tashichho Dzong โ The “Fortress of the Glorious Religion,” a magnificent 17th-century fortress-monastery that serves as the seat of Bhutan’s government and the King’s throne room. The traditional Bhutanese architecture with golden spires is breathtaking

- Simply Bhutan Museum โ Interactive living museum showcasing Bhutanese culture, archery (national sport), and traditional architecture
Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3: Paro Valley โ Tiger’s Nest & Ancient Heritage
- Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) โ Bhutan’s most iconic and sacred site! Perched dramatically on a cliffside 900m above the Paro Valley at 3,120m elevation. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated in a cave for 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, and 3 hours โ introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. The 5-6hr round-trip hike is challenging but rewarding. Stop at the midway cafeteria for tea with a view
- Kyichu Lhakhang โ One of Bhutan’s oldest and most beautiful temples, built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. The temple’s orange tree is said to bear fruit year-round. The peaceful gardens and ancient murals create a deeply spiritual atmosphere
- Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) โ The “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels,” a magnificent 17th-century fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro River. Its cantilever bridge and massive buttressed walls are architectural masterpieces
Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Paro International Airport. As your plane climbs through the Himalayan valleys, take one last look at the Land of the Thunder Dragon โ a kingdom where Gross National Happiness matters more than GDP, where nature is protected by law (60% forest cover mandated), and where ancient traditions thrive in the modern world.
