Day Tour - Angkor Wat & Small Circuit to Bakheng Sunset Tour
We will start at 08:00 am. The ride from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat takes about 20 minutes.
Angkor Wat's Majesty: Our exploration begins at the crown jewel of Angkor, the majestic Angkor Wat. Witness the sunrise over this magnificent temple complex (optional add-on) or arrive mid-morning to delve into its intricate details. Climb the central tower (proper attire required: knees and shoulders covered) for panoramic views and explore the bas-reliefs depicting stories from Hindu mythology. Marvel at the architectural mastery on display, a testament to the Khmer Empire's grandeur.
Treasures of the Small Circuit: Following your exploration of Angkor Wat, we'll journey to the Small Circuit, a collection of significant temples nestled nearby.
- Bayon Temple: Be captivated by the enigmatic faces of Bayon Temple, each representing a province of the Great Khmer Empire. Wander through the serene courtyards and admire the intricate sculptures that tell stories of the past.
- Baphuon Temple: Next, we'll visit Baphuon Temple, a towering structure dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Climb the temple's steps (proper attire required: knees and shoulders covered) and enjoy panoramic views of the Angkor complex. Explore the intricately carved galleries depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
- Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace: We'll continue to the Elephant Terrace, a massive wall adorned with reliefs depicting elephants, and the nearby Leper King Terrace, decorated with sculptures and gargoyles.
A Refreshing Break: After exploring the Small Circuit temples, we'll have a break for lunch (not included). Enjoy a delicious Cambodian meal at a nearby restaurant or pack your own picnic to savor amidst the Angkor complex.
Ascent to Bakheng Temple: As the late afternoon approaches, we'll head to Bakheng Temple, perched atop a hill. Ascend the relatively steep staircase (approximately 25 minutes) and be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Angkor landscape, including the silhouette of Angkor Wat bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
A Magical Sunset: Witness a spectacle unlike any other as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky with vibrant hues. Bakheng Temple offers a truly magical atmosphere, with the ancient temples silhouetted against the colorful sky.
