Day Tour - A Journey to Kampong Pluk Village Flooded Village Tour
We will start 2 schedules a day at 08:00 am and 14:00. The ride from Siem Reap to Tonle Sap Lake takes about 30 minutes.
Our journey begins with a scenic drive to the Siem Reap River. Board a comfortable boat and set sail on the vast Tonle Sap, a lake that transforms dramatically throughout the year.
Kampong Phluk: A Village on Stilts: As we arrive in Kampong Phluk, a cluster of three villages built on stilts, prepare to be captivated. During the high water season (October – March), witness a remarkable sight: houses seemingly floating amidst a flooded forest. Glide through the treetops in a traditional dugout canoe, experiencing the unique ecosystem firsthand.
Exploring the Village: Throughout the year, Kampong Phluk offers a glimpse into a traditional Cambodian way of life. Explore the village at your own pace, observing the daily routines of the residents who have adapted to life on the water. See children paddling to school on small boats, families fishing from their stilted homes, and witness the bustling atmosphere of the local market.
Understanding the Rhythm of the Lake: Your guide will explain the fascinating relationship between the villagers and the Tonle Sap. Learn about the traditional fishing methods used for generations and how the lake's water levels impact their lives and livelihoods.
Contrasting Landscapes (Optional): Depending on the season, you can experience two distinct landscapes:
- High Water (October – March): Witness the flooded forest, a magical realm where houses appear to float on water.
- Low Water (April – August): Explore the village built on stilts, offering a unique perspective on life above the ground. Observe the busy rice cultivation activities and witness the villagers’ resilience as they adapt to the changing environment.
Returning to Siem Reap: Following this enriching exploration of Kampong Phluk, we'll return to Siem Reap, allowing you to cherish the memories of this captivating journey into the heart of Tonle Sap.
