Day Tour - Discovery of the Banon Mountain, Bamboo Train & Sampov Mountain
We will start at 08:30 am. Start your day with a visit to the ancient temple
- Phnom Bannon Mountain - A mountain topped by an 11th-century Khmer temple complex. Hike or take the 350+ step staircase for breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, sugar palm trees, and the Sangker River. Explore the five ruined towers reminiscent of Angkor Wat and soak in the history and tranquility of this sacred site.
- Bamboo Train Adventure: Buckle up for a thrilling ride on the legendary Bamboo Train! This ingenious local invention features a platform made of bamboo placed on railway tracks. Propel yourselves along the scenic countryside, offering breathtaking views of rice paddies and lush landscapes. Imagine a rollercoaster ride through rural Cambodia – minus the loops!
Lunch: Savor a Delicious Local Lunch (Not Included). Indulge in a delectable lunch at a charming local restaurant. Sample some of Battambang's specialties, like Fish Amok (a creamy fish curry) or Nom Banh Chok (rice noodles with pork and vegetables).
Late afternoon: A journey to Ascend the Majestic Phnom Sampeau: As the day progresses, ascend the majestic Phnom Sampeau, aptly named "Ship Hill" due to its unique shape. Hike to the summit and be rewarded with panoramic vistas of sprawling paddy fields and swaying sugar palm trees. Explore the captivating Wat Phnom Banan, an ancient temple complex, and learn about its religious significance.
Bats Take Flight: As twilight paints the sky with vibrant hues, witness a captivating natural spectacle. Return to Battambang: As the stars begin to twinkle, you'll return to your hotel in Battambang, your heart brimming with memories of Battambang's rich traditions, the thrill of the Bamboo Train, and the unforgettable twilight spectacle at Phnom Sampeau.
