Our guide took us to a hidden hot pot spot where locals have eaten for generations, arranged a private face-changing opera performance, and knew the exact time to visit Leshan Giant Buddha to avoid crowds. We extended our trip by 3 days because we didn’t want to leave.

“Xinjiang surprised us all”

Before the trip, friends asked “Is Xinjiang safe?” Not only was it completely safe, it was the most welcoming place we’ve visited. Uyghur families invited us for tea in Kashgar’s old city, the food was incredible (those lamb skewers!), and the landscapes — from Heavenly Lake to the Taklamakan — were otherworldly.

“Qinghai’s hidden beauty”

I’m a landscape photographer and Qinghai was my holy grail. The mirror-like Chaka Salt Lake at dawn, the endless grasslands dotted with yaks, Tibetan nomads who let me photograph their daily life — our guide even woke us at 4am to catch the perfect light over Qinghai Lake. This wasn’t a tour; it was a photography expedition crafted just for me.
