Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kashgar Arrival

Upon your arrival at the Kashgar airport, our driver guide will meet you at the airport exit according to your arrival flight and transfer you to hotel to check in.

Rest of the time free for guest to stroll around Kashgar Old Town for rest of the day.

Accommodation: Overnight at Kashgar

Day 2: Kashgar City

Today’s highlights: Kashgar Bazaar, Kashgar Old Town, Ancient Tea House, Id Kah Mosque, Gaotian Residential Area

In the morning, enjoy a relaxing day in Kashgar old town! Your guide will meet you at hotel lobby to start the adventure. We visit the famous Kashgar Bazaar, the Livestock Market (on Sundays), Abakh Hoja Tomb, Id Kah Mosque, and the exotic Kashgar Old Town including Handicrafts Street and the Ancient Tea House. We will also stop by the border permit office to fetch the permit for Tashkurgan county.

Day 3: Kashgar – Karakul Lake – Tashkurgan

Today’s highlights: Karakul Lake, White Sand Lake, view of Muztagh Ata Pamirs Plateau.

Today, we drive 190km to the famous Karakul Lake. The journey offers overwhelming landscapes of the Pamirs Plateau. We’ll stop at Baishahu (White Sands Dunes Lake). At Karakul Lake (3600m), enjoy breathtaking scenery of the pristine lake nestled against snow-capped mountains like Muztagh Ata. Afterwards, we drive about 1 hour to Tashkurgan.

Day 4: Tashkurgan – Kashgar, fly to Turpan

Today’s highlights: Tashkurgan Fort, Alaer Golden Grassland, Muztagh Glacier Park.

This morning, we recommend an early start to watch the sunrise over the Stone City. After breakfast, we visit the magnificent Stone Castle, the serene Golden Wetland, and a local Tajik village. En-route back to Kashgar, we visit the Muztagh Glacier Park to marvel at the undulating snowy peaks. In the evening, we take an overnight train to Turpan.

Day 5: Turpan

Today’s highlights: Tuyoq Valley, Lolan Winery, Kumtag Desert.

Arrive in Turpan, an oasis on the Silk Road. Today, visit Tuyoq Valley, the oldest Uyghur village. We’ll stop at the Flaming Mountains, then drive to Shanshan county to visit the Lolan Winery. Continue to Kumtag Desert, part of the Taklamakan Desert, with its colossal sand dunes. Later, check into the hotel and explore the night market in Turpan.

Day 6: Turpan – Urumqi

Today’s highlights: Jiaohe Ancient City, Sugong Pagoda, Karez Well, Urumqi Erdaoqiao International Bazaar

Today, we explore Jiaohe Ruins, the world’s largest earthen city. Then, visit the 44-meter-high Sugong Pagoda, China’s tallest minaret. Afterwards, see the ancient Karez Well water system before driving about three hours back to Urumqi. In the evening, you can visit the Urumqi Erdaoqiao International Bazaar.

Day 7: Urumqi Heavenly Lake – Fuhai

Today’s highlights: Heavenly Lake.

Drive 1.5 hours to visit Heavenly Lake at Tianshan Mountain. Explore the serene alpine lake by walking, taking a boat cruise, or riding a cable car for a panoramic view. After the trip, we continue our drive to Fuhai. We will stop at Ulungur Lake to enjoy the sunset if time permits, then proceed to Fuhai County.
