Tour Overview
Silk Road used to be the most important channel for the exchange of culture and business between East and West, from Xi’an to Roma. Silk Road is still playing important role in international culture today.
China Exploration designed the unique 10 days’ Silk Road Tour connecting all of the important stations in China from Xi’an to Kashgar，in this tour, desert, cultural relics, ruin of the Great Wall, all can be visited in both the ancient and modern China cities.
Tour Itinerary
D1 Arrive in Xi’an
Arrive in the start of Silk Road，Xi’an. You can make some city tours yourself accordingly.
D2 Xi’an City Tour (Terra Cotta Museum / Ever Bright City / Wild Goose Tower Ground)（B）
In the morning you will head to Terra Cotta Museum to explore the ancient warriors of Qing dynasty 2000 years ago. It is amazing to enjoy so many huge army underground. And then you will drop a look in the front of Wild Goose Tower Ground outside. You don’t need to enter, just have a look outside, listen the ancient story of Monk Tang travelling to ancient India for Buddhism scripture. And in the evening you will enjoy the amazing night the Datang Ever Bright City, which will brought you back the prosperous and glorious Tang dynasty.
D3 Xi’an / Zhangye ( Old City Wall / )（B ）
In the morning you will head to the old city wall for a mild hiking to stretch your legs, and have a bird’s eye view of old Xi’an city. And then you will make an overland tours by taking 6 hours’ bullet train to Zhangye. You will enjoy the sparse landscape of Hexi Corridor on the train. Arrive in Zhangye city in the late afternoon, and then meet with your guide and driver there and then transfer to hotel for night.
D4 Zhangye Cultural Tour ( Dafo Temple / Mati Temple / Rainbow Mountain ) (B)
In the morning, drop a visit in Dafo Giant Buddha Temple, which used to be the largest Buddhism temple in Xixia Empire. And you will head to Mati temple and then hike around the Horse Hoof Grotto to explore the glorious Buddhism culture of ancient Silk road. In the late afternoon you will head to Rainbow Mountain, means Seven Color Danxia GEO park, where you will hike in the beautiful red Danxia. And the dawn is the most beautiful here. Return Zhangye city in the late afternoon. Night in local hotel
D5 Zhangye / Jiayuguan ( Jiayuguan Pass ) (B,L)
In the morning you will continue your overland tour of Silk Road by driving to Jiayuguan in about 3 hours, continue to enjoy the ruin of great wall and Gobi desert en route. And arrive in another important station of Silk Road, Jiayuguan city, which used to be the border pass of China with West world 1000 years ago. And in the afternoon you will head to the ruin of Great Wall in Jiayuguan, which is called the First Mound of Great Wall. And then you will ascend the Jiayuguan Great Wall Gate to have a panorama view of West world. Night in Jiayuguan city.
D6 Jiayuguan / Dunhuang (Mingshashan Hill / Shazhou Night Market ) ( B )
In the morning you will continue 4 hours’ overland tours of Silk Road to Dunhuang, enjoy the sparse Gobi desert, Oasis, and villages en route. Arrive in Dunhuang in the afternoon, and then you will make a hiking in desert firstly. Mingshashan Hill is the most famous in Dunhuang, you will hike or ride camel on the desert hill. And the Crescent Moon Lake is also a beautiful view here. In the evening you will walk around in Shazhou Night Market, where is a magic and crowded market full of everything in Silk road. Also delicious food can be found here too!
D7 Dunhuang / Turpan (Mogao Cave ) ( B )
Mogao Cave is the highlight of Silk Road, also the most important cultural site in Dunhuang. You will visit the Mogao Cave Museum in the morning, explore the magic Grottoes and Buddhism fresco in these ancient caves. In the afternoon you will head to Liuyuan to take the train to Turpan in Xinjiang by 3 hours’ bullet train riding.
D8 Turpan / Kashgar (Jiaohe Ruin / Kaner Well / Grape Valley )（B）
Turpan is the important Silk Road station in ancient time. This morning you will explore the ruin of Jiaohe ancient town, which is the largest and most well reserved earth town, and it will tell you the old history of Silk road from 2300 years ago. In the afternoon you will continue tours in Turpan. First, we will visit Grape Valley and then you will explore the Kaner Well Drainage system under the earth. It is really a magic wisdom that people transferred water under the earth channel in this hot area. And you will also enjoy the folklore of Uygur people. Fly to Kashgar in the evening. Transfer to hotel for night.
D9 Kashgar City Tour (Xiangfei Garden / Aitigar mosque / Kashgar Old Town) (B )
In the morning you will visit the big Bazaar in Kashgar, which is famous in Mid Asia. And then you will visit the beautiful Muslim style Garden, actually it is Fragrant Concubine Tomb. The princess in Kashgar was smelled fragrantly and was one of the beloved wives by the Chinese emperor. And then you will visit the Aitigar Mosque, which is the TOP 1 in Xinjiang. And then you will free to hike around in the Kashgar Old town. Night in local hotel.
