Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival, Colombo – Negombo Upon your arrival at the CMB airport of Colombo, your chauffeur guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel in Negombo, a modest beach town about 20 minutes drive away from the airport. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Negombo
Negombo – Sigiriya Explore the daily life of the local fishermen by strolling through the Negombo Fish Market. If you get up at about 6:00 am, you'll have a chance to see big fishing boats return with big catches. Later on, drive to Sigiriya. It's renowned for the Rock Fortress rising from the central plains. It takes about 5 hours from Negombo to Sigiriya, you can stop en route for a short break. B Sigiriya
Sigiriya On this day, the exploration of the world-famous Rock Fortress (Lion Rock) will bring you a feast of frescoes. It's one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning. There you can appreciate the ruins of the royal palace and a gallery of painted nymphs. After that, head for a rural village of Hiriwadunna. Go deep into Sri Lankan countryside by jeep or tuk-tuk with paddy fields and vegetable plantations along the pass. At dusk, ride a catamaran to enjoy the view of rural sunset. B Sigiriya
Sigiriya – Kandy Start today's tour with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple. You will be amazed by the 150 stunning Buddha statues and paintings in five separate caves. Later, drive to Kandy. Make a stop en route, visit a spice garden and enjoy an Ayurveda Massage. After arriving in Kandy, you can appreciate a traditional cultural dance (Kandyan dance) which is highly sophisticated and refined. Kandy After breakfast, pay a visit to the Royal Botanical Garden located at the Peradeniya – a suburb of the city of Kandy. It is one of the finest botanical gardens in Asia and the largest botanical gardens of Sri Lanka. You can see more than 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. This afternoon is at your leisure. Either having a rest at your hotel or walking around Kandy Lake is up to you. B Kandy
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya In the morning, depart for Nuwara Eliya by train and enjoy the journey of crossing beautiful mountains and tea plantations. You will arrive after 4 hours and meet your chauffeur guide at Nanu Oya Railway Station before a private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is for your relaxation. B Nuwara Eliya
Nuwara Eliya Wake up early in the morning, depart for Horton Plains National Park. Later, you will start a 3-4 hours' easy trekking. You may have a chance to encounter sambar deer, waterfalls, diverse flora & fauna, etc. Catch a fantastic view at the World's End. This afternoon, head for a tea plantation and a tea factory where you can learn about the production process of famous Ceylon tea. Nuwara Eliya – Yala This morning, drive 4.5 hours to Yala. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ella all along the way. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and have a break before stepping out for a jeep safari at Yala National Park – the most famous wildlife national park in Sri Lanka.
