Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Airport pickup and transfer to your hotel in the French Quarter. Evening cyclo tour through the atmospheric Old Quarter, followed by a welcome dinner of northern Vietnamese specialties.

Day 2: Hanoi — A Thousand Years of History

Full-day exploration: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, Temple of Literature (Vietnam’s first university, 1070 AD), Hoan Kiem Lake, and Ngoc Son Temple. Afternoon street food tour through the Old Quarter’s 36 guild streets. Evening water puppet show.

Day 3: Ha Long Bay Cruise

Drive to Ha Long Bay (2.5 hrs). Board your private junk boat for an overnight cruise. Kayak through hidden lagoons, swim in emerald waters, and watch sunset from the deck. Fresh seafood dinner under the stars.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay Sunrise & Return to Hanoi

Tai chi on deck at sunrise. Visit a floating fishing village, then cruise back through the karst labyrinth. Return to Hanoi. Evening at leisure — explore Train Street or sample bia hoi (fresh beer) on a street corner.

Day 5: Fly to Hue

Morning flight to Hue. Afternoon boat cruise along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda. Visit the Imperial Citadel — the seat of the Nguyen dynasty emperors. Evening dinner featuring Hue’s royal cuisine.

Day 6: Hue’s Royal Tombs

Explore the elaborate royal tombs: Tu Duc (poet-emperor’s lakeside mausoleum), Khai Dinh (fusion of Vietnamese and European architecture), and Minh Mang (classical Chinese-influenced design). Afternoon visit to a local garden house for tea with the owner.

Day 7: Hai Van Pass to Hoi An

Scenic drive over the Hai Van Pass (Cloud Pass) — one of the world’s most beautiful coastal roads. Stop at Lang Co Beach and Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoi An. Evening walking tour of the lantern-lit Ancient Town and Japanese Covered Bridge.

Day 8: Hoi An — Tailors, Temples & Cooking

Morning visit to a local market to select ingredients. Hands-on cooking class featuring Hoi An specialties: cao lau noodles, white rose dumplings, and banh xeo. Afternoon at leisure — get measured for custom clothing (Hoi An is famous for its tailors) or cycle through rice paddies.

Day 9: My Son Sanctuary

Half-day excursion to My Son — the ancient Cham temple complex dating from the 4th–14th centuries, nestled in a jungle valley. Afternoon return to Hoi An. Free time for the beach or more Old Town exploration.

Day 10: Fly to Ho Chi Minh City

Morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Afternoon exploration: Notre-Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Reunification Palace, and the War Remnants Museum. Evening food tour by motorbike through District 4’s backstreets.

Day 11: Cu Chi Tunnels

Half-day excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels — crawl through the narrow underground passageways that played a crucial role in the Vietnam War. Afternoon visit to Chinatown (Cho Lon) and Binh Tay Market.

Day 12: Mekong Delta

Full-day journey into the Mekong Delta. Cruise the mighty river, visit a coconut candy workshop, bike through fruit orchards, and paddle a sampan through narrow canals lined with water coconut palms. Lunch at a riverside garden restaurant.

Day 13: Ho Chi Minh City at Leisure

Free day. Options: visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, explore Dong Khoi Street’s boutiques, take a street art tour, or enjoy a rooftop sunset cocktail. Farewell dinner at one of Saigon’s finest restaurants.

Day 14: Depart Ho Chi Minh City

Morning at leisure. Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for departure.
