Getting Around

South Korea’s public transport is world-class. The KTX high-speed train connects Seoul to Busan in 2.5 hours. City subways are clean, efficient, and have English signage. Get a T-money card for seamless travel on buses and subways nationwide.

Etiquette Tips

Bow slightly when greeting. Use both hands when giving or receiving (money, gifts, business cards). Remove shoes when entering homes and some traditional restaurants. Avoid writing names in red ink (associated with death). Tipping is not customary and can cause confusion.

Connectivity

Korea has the world’s fastest internet. Pick up a SIM card or WiFi egg at the airport. Download Naver Maps (Google Maps has limited functionality in Korea) and KakaoTalk (everyone uses it).

Money

The Korean Won (KRW). Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere. Have some cash for street food stalls and small markets. ATMs labeled “Global” accept foreign cards.
