Quick Answers: Beijing Travel FAQ
How long does it take to visit the Terracotta Warriors?
Plan 3-4 hours total including travel from Xi'an city center. The museum is 45 minutes from downtown. Visit Pit 1 (6,000+ warriors), Pit 2 (cavalry and chariots), Pit 3 (command center), and the Bronze Chariot exhibition. Most tours depart at 8:00 AM and return by 1:00 PM, allowing time for the Muslim Quarter in the afternoon.
How far is Xi'an from Beijing by high-speed train?
Xi'an to Beijing is 4.5 hours by high-speed train (G-trains). Trains depart from Xi'an North Station to Beijing West Station. Second-class tickets cost around ¥515 ($72). There are also overnight sleeper trains (Z-trains, 12 hours) and direct flights (2 hours, from $80).
What is the best time to visit Xi'an?
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are ideal with temperatures 12-25°C. Summer (June-August) is hot (30-38°C) but still manageable. Winter (December-February) is cold (0-8°C) with fewer crowds and lower prices.
Can I combine Xi'an with Beijing in one trip?
Absolutely! The classic Beijing-Xi'an combo is our most popular itinerary. Take the 4.5-hour high-speed train between the two cities. A 5-day itinerary: Beijing (Great Wall, Forbidden City, 3 days) → Xi'an (Terracotta Warriors, City Wall, 2 days). Many travelers also add Shanghai or Chengdu.
What should I eat in Xi'an?
Xi'an is a food paradise. Must-try dishes: Biang Biang Mian (wide belt noodles), Yangrou Paomo (lamb soup with shredded bread), Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), Liangpi (cold noodles). The Muslim Quarter is the best place to sample all of these.
