Nepal Travel Guide — Trekking Tips & Cultural Etiquette

Everything to Know Before Your Himalayan Adventure

Visas

Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu Airport. Bring passport photos and USD cash. 15/30/90-day options available.

Trekking Preparation

You don’t need to be an athlete for most treks, but fitness helps. Start walking regularly 2-3 months before departure. The Annapurna Foothills trek is suitable for anyone who can walk 4-6 hours. For Everest Base Camp, train more seriously — it’s 12+ days above 3,500m.

Cultural Etiquette

Remove shoes before entering temples and homes. Walk clockwise around stupas and mani walls. Ask before photographing people. The traditional greeting is “Namaste” with palms pressed together. Dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees) at religious sites.

Altitude Safety

Above 3,000m, altitude sickness is a real risk. Our itineraries include proper acclimatization days. Drink 3-4 liters of water daily, avoid alcohol, and communicate any symptoms to your guide immediately.
