Best Time to Visit South Korea
Cherry Blossoms, Autumn Colors & Seasonal Highlights
South Korea’s Four Distinct Seasons
Korea experiences dramatic seasonal changes, each with its own beauty. Spring (April-May) brings cherry blossoms and mild temperatures — the most popular time to visit. Autumn (September-November) delivers spectacular fall foliage and clear blue skies. Summer (June-August) is hot and humid with monsoon rains. Winter (December-February) is cold but dry, with excellent skiing.
Spring: Cherry Blossom Season
The blossoms typically peak in early April in Seoul and Busan. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (late March/early April) is Korea’s largest cherry blossom festival. Book accommodations 3+ months ahead — this is peak season.
Autumn: The Photographer’s Dream
October and November bring Korea’s most beautiful weather. Seoraksan and Naejangsan National Parks offer world-class fall foliage. The Seoul Lantern Festival lights up Cheonggyecheon Stream in November.
Winter & Summer
Winter is ideal for ski trips to Pyeongchang (2018 Olympic venue) and enjoying steaming hotteok on cold streets. Summer brings Boryeong Mud Festival and vibrant green landscapes.
