This 8-day tour is the ideal introduction to Sri Lanka, covering the island’s must-see highlights at a comfortable pace. From ancient fortresses to misty tea hills, wild safaris to golden beaches โ€” all in just over a week.

Day 1: Arrival, Colombo to Kandy

Arrive at Colombo airport. Transfer to Kandy (3hrs) via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage โ€” watch baby elephants being fed and playing in the river. Evening at leisure by Kandy Lake.

Day 2: Kandy โ€” The Sacred City

Morning ceremony at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Wander the Royal Botanical Gardens. Afternoon explore the city’s markets and handicraft workshops. Evening Kandyan cultural dance performance with fire-walking finale.

Day 3: Tea Country โ€” Nuwara Eliya

Wind through mountain roads to Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea plantation and factory โ€” walk through the emerald bushes, see the production process, and enjoy a tasting of pure Ceylon tea at the estate. Explore “Little England” โ€” the golf course, Gregory Lake, and colonial architecture.

Day 4: Scenic Train to Ella

One of the world’s great train journeys. The blue train chugs through tea-covered mountains on narrow-gauge tracks, crossing stone bridges and passing through dozens of tunnels. In Ella, hike Little Adam’s Peak for panoramic valley views, and photograph the famous Nine Arch Bridge.

Day 5: Yala National Park Safari

Drive to Yala. Afternoon 4×4 jeep safari searching for leopards (Yala has the world’s highest density), elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and an extraordinary variety of birds. The golden light of late afternoon makes for spectacular photography.

Day 6: South Coast & Galle Fort

Drive along the palm-fringed southern coast. Stop to photograph stilt fishermen. Explore Galle Fort โ€” walk the Dutch-built ramparts, discover hidden cafes, browse artisan shops, and watch sunset over the Indian Ocean from the fortress walls.

Day 7: Bentota Beach

A well-deserved beach day at Bentota, Sri Lanka’s premier coastal resort. Swim, sunbathe, try water sports (optional), or simply relax with a king coconut under a palm tree. Farewell beach dinner at sunset.

Day 8: Departure

Transfer to Colombo airport (1.5hrs). Depart with memories of a beautiful island where ancient civilizations, wild nature, and warm smiles come together in perfect harmony.
